Hidden Gems of Zanskar is an unforgettable small-group motorcycle and hiking adventure through one of Ladakh’s most remote and awe-inspiring valleys. Ride across high mountain passes, trace winding rivers, and take in the breathtaking views that make Zanskar one of the Ladaks’ best-kept secrets.

Along the way we visit centuries-old monasteries perched on cliffs, meet local villagers, and spend nights off-grid under the vast Himalayan sky. Te tour also includes a three-day hike into secluded corners of the valley to visit a magical Red Lake. Gentle yoga sessions each morning help keep your body and mind relaxed and balanced and body felxible for better riding.

Hidden Gems of Zanskar is more than just a ride, it’s a deep exploration of landscape, culture, and self in one of the more untouched regions of Ladakh.

To join, you’ll need confident motorcycle riding skills and a valid driver’s license. We’ll be traveling in a small group to stay flexible and mobile, without rushing, allowing ourselves to fully immerse in the moment.

Day 1

Upon arrival in Leh, settle into your accommodations and embrace the tranquil mountain atmosphere. This day is dedicated to rest and altitude adaptation. An evening group dinner and tour briefing will help everyone connect and prepare for the incredible journey ahead.

Day 2

Spend the morning leisurely exploring Leh’s charming streets, securing local SIM cards, and arranging any necessary cash. After a delightful lunch we set off to discover Hemis monastery, a 40 km ride, and enjoy the sunset. We end the day with a real Ladakhy dinner back in Leh.

Day 3

After morning yoga and a hearty breakfast, we ride toward Alchi, home to Ladakh’s oldest monastery, dating back to 958. After a refreshing apricot juice break, the journey continues to Lamayuru for lunch overlooking its famous Moonland landscape and serene valley.

We stay overnight in Lamayuru, with the option to visit the monastery or take a peaceful walk down to the river.

Day 4

With some gentle stretching we make ourselves ready to enter Zanskar Valley, crossing our first mountain pass, Sirsir La, at 4,785 meters. After a stop to take in the panoramic views, we continue toward the remote village of Photoksar. In the afternoon, there’s time to explore the village and its beautiful valley. After that it's time to take a good rest in preparation for the hike.

Day 5

We use mild yoga to prepare our body for hiking through the Himalayan wilderness, characterized by a river flowing through gentle slopes surrounded by barren rocky cliffs with glaciers atop. After 4 hours we arrive at the basecamp near Pu Spang Chen Mo by lunchtime, after which we can explore the surroundings. We spent the evening by the bonfire under the amazing starlit sky.

Day 6

We start the trek early for a long, challenging day. Leaving our main gear at the campsite, we follow the valley up to the stunning Red Lake, glowing with crimson tones among mountains and glaciers. From there, we climb steeply to Manthang La Pass (5,570 m), the highest point of the trek, with sweeping views of icy peaks and glaciers. We return to basecamp the same way.

Day 7

This morning we stretch and warm up our muscles to walk back to our Homestay in Photoskar and see our motorbikes again and have an early night in to get a good rest.

Day 8

Today we cross two passes, 4435m and 5057m after which we arrive at the hidden village of Lingshed where time flows differently. There are no buzzing vehicles, no urban interruptions, only the rhythm of wind, prayer wheels, and yak bells. Its people live in close harmony with the land. After arriving in our homestay we can explore the village, the monastery and it's surroundings.

Day 9

After a light yoga session we drive down to the Zanskar river and follow it to the small village of Zangla where the royal family lives. We have time to visit the royal house, the palace and the monastery.

Day 10

Today we have a short drive to Padum, which allows us to visit the beautiful Stongdey and Karsha monasteries along the way. The route takes us over small, scenic roads that make the ride both fun and adventurous. We spent the night in a tented camp just outside the village.

Day 11

After a morning yoga session with magnificent views, we start driving south along the Tsarap River. After a two-hour drive, we reach the small and secluded Phugtal Monastery. Following a visit and some rest, we continue along the river and spent the night at a tented camp near the majestic mountain of Gumbok Rangjon.

Day 12

We start the day with yoga to warm up for a challenging ride over two high passes: Shinkula at 5,091 meters and Baralacha La at 5,029 meters. After the ride, we arrive in the famous village of Sarchu, nestled along the Tsarap Chu River. Sarchu is an important stop on the Manali-Leh Highway, especially popular among motorcyclists. It’s a great place to meet fellow riders, walk along the river, and take in the breathtaking mountain views.

Day 13

After the last yoga session of the tour, we set off for Leh. Today is our chance to absorb the majesty of the Himalayas before descending back toward civilization. The day unfolds along a long, winding route crossing three high passes: Nakee La at 4,738 meters, Lachulung La at 5,064 meters, and Tanglang La at 5,327 meters. Once in Leh, we freshen up and gather for a well-deserved farewell dinner, celebrating the adventures, friendships, and serene moments shared along the way.

Day 14
